Be MIST-ified
My partner and I spent four nights at Mist in early January 2019. Driving up to Mist we were greeted by Mary who has a very welcoming nature. She welcomed us to Mist and introduced us to Toffee, the adorable dog.
Mary, Paul and Toffee were the most charming and accommodating hosts. We had no adventures/tours booked when we arrived due to the potential bad weather, but when we knew the weather was clearing they helped arrange tours at short notice for us and we didn’t miss out on anything.
We spent the days out and about exploring the divine natural swimming holes around the Daintree, zip lining, horse riding, eating local ice-cream and snorkelling the GBR. We went out for a delicious dinner on the night we arrived but every night after we couldn’t get off the balcony at Mist. We sat out having BBQ’s with friends enjoying the surrounding swimming hole, natural bush, bird and wildlife. We couldn’t believe how big the endangered bats were and loved watching them come out at night over the ridge with the binoculars.
The room was outstanding, with style and cleanliness a high priority of Mary and Paul. The bed was super comfy with superb linen – we struggled to get out in the mornings.
There is no reception or Wifi around the Daintree, which suited us – there are so many other things to do. One night we were walking to our room and couldn’t believe the amount of stars. We spent hours sitting outside at night looking at all the stars.
The only down side to Mist is the day you know you have to pack up and leave. Thank you Mary, Paul and Toffee – I do have so many good stories about my stay at Mist but seen as I have written a novel already.
